Ashburton appointment

The appointment of Mr C. Geddes as a farm advisory officer in the Ashburton district was announced this week by Mr D. G. Reynolds, regional a’dvisory officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for Canterbury. “Ashburton has been rather badly off for advisory staff in recent months due

to staff changes, and the transfer of an experienced officer is a welcome one I am sure for farmers in the district,” he said. Mr Geddes, who graduated from Lincoln College in 1969, worked for the then Department of Agriculture in Greymouth for three and a half years. There he specialised in beef and dairy management.

His appointment to Ashburton follows a year overseas when he worked in several countries including Switzerland. Germany, England and the Netherlands. Mr Reynolds said that Mr Geddes would be working initially in the Valetta and Eiffelton areas, country formerly worked by Mr I. Ritchie, who is at present on study leave'at Lincoln.
