Hororata trotting meeting

Sir, — As a resident in 1 the Hororata district I am ' very disturbed by the high- j handed decision of the New I Zealand Racing Authority to 1 cancel the licence which! enables us to conduct our J annual trotting meeting on it aur home course. There is f no doubt that bureaucratic; s decisions give little heed to 1

the values of country race days. Obviously the authority is totally void of sympathy for the intangible benefits for Hororata and district. On Saturday every man and the dog will turn out for the day; the value of [this licence is incalculable [and extends far beyond the miserable economics and ; statistics which would spell doom for the club and Horo-I rata. It is a shocking pity if: sport should be dictated to I in this way, turning it from ■ the purpose for which it I was established to a purely! business and economic contract. — Yours etc., NEDDY. March 5, 1975.
