Collectors required

Helpers are required for the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s Society annual appeal in Canterbury on Saturday.

The president of the Canterbury branch of the society (Mr C. G. H. Curragh) said yesterday that collecting for the appeal was another way in which people could give their support to the society. Drivers were also needed.

The area from the Rakaia River to the Hurunui River will be canvassed by the branch. Some of the country areas within these bound-, aries were still short of collectors, Mr Curragh said. Helpers were particularly required in the Kaiapoi area.

The society hoped for a greater response to this year’s appeal, as its services had expanded to cater for 170 persons compared with 150 the previous year.
