Colt fetches $4250

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. A two-year-old colt by the outstanding veteran sire, Fair’s Fair, fetched top price of $4250 at the Claudelands Bloodstock Sale in Hamilton yesterday.

An attractive, well-grown bay, the colt was originally passed in, being sold later outside the ring. He is from Hie Marco Polo II mare, Annapolo, dam of the two-year-old winner. Too Shy. This is the same family as the Auckland and Sydney Cups winner, Apollo Eleven. Offered on account of Mr M. M Dragevich, of Dargaville. the colt was purchaed by Mr T. Edwards, of Rotorua.

The top-priced colt was offered in the section for untried stock. I Second top-price was in the I yearling section. This was $3OOO. which Mr D. V. P. Gosney, of Christchurch, paid for a chestnut filly by Taipan 11, from Dianne’s Gold, by Gold Sovereign. The filly is a full-sister to King Tudor, a recent two-year-old winner in Australia at his first start. She was offered by her New South Wales breeder. Mrs A. B. Bolt.

Tire highest price in the broodmare section was Sl7OO for an 11-year-old bay mare, Eve’s Joy, by We Don’t Know from Fern, by Underwood. Eve’s Joy had a chestnut filly at foot by Donalbain and is in foal again to the same sire.

There was a very small bench of potential buyers and a good many offerings attracted a minimum of attention. As a consequence. passings were numerous.

Women bus drivers. — The Wellington City Counicil’s first three women bus drivers will start training 'with the Transport Department in Wellington next ; Monday. The women will not don their uniforms until Ithey take a bus onto the streets on their own.
