Seona McDowell
The popular televsion and recording artist. Seona McDowell, formerly of Auckland, will appear as a supporting artist with Don McLean. Seona is an attractive and talented singer with a distinctive voice and a warm, infectious personality. who enjoys entertaining people of all ages with her large and colourful repertoire of contemporary and traditional songs. Bom in Bombay, India, of Irish-English parents, Seona lived in New Zea land for several years before embarking on a world tour, her first stopover being Melbourne, Australia. With Melbourne as her present base. Seona pursued her professional singing career by working extensively throughout Australia during the past twelve months.
Seona’s regular work in Australia includes television, radio, concerts, festivals, promotional tours, musical education programmes for primary and secondary schools, restaurants. shopping malls and private functions.
Seona regards her school musical education programmes. “Ballads — Traditional and Contemporary” and “The Early Years." as an important aspect of her work in the world of music and sees her live performances at schools as “a means of
providing students with a j broader scope to develop x their musical appreciation / in conjunction with normal school music lessons.” s While in New Zealand, s Seona will present a series s of musical education pro- t
grammes in association with Pan Am to several Auckland schools. Seona accompanies herself with six and twelve string guitars, Appalachian autoharps and five string banjo.
