Polo player unconscious
(N.Z. Press Association)
WAIPUKURAU. The Wanstead polo player, John Barrett, injured in a game against the touring Stowell Park team on Tuesday, was still unconscious in Waipukurau hospital yesterday.
Barrett, aged about 40, and married with six children, fell heavily from his pony while riding at full tilt, about three minutes from the end of the game. It appeared he was kicked in the right temple by his mount as it staggered to its feet after the fall.
