The successful applicant is expected to hold a science degree with units in statistics and/or computer science. Programming experience in Fortran would be an advantage. The Epidemiology Unit, which includes two full-time Epidemiologists besides the Director, is involved in crosssectional and longitudinal ; studies of different groups of — Polynesians and Europeans both in New Zealand and in the Pacific. Analysis of the extensive medical, sociological and dietary data is carried out on an IBM 360/50 computer. using packaged statistical programmes where possible. Files are maintained by user-written programmes. The appointee, under the direction of the Senior Biosfatistician, will be responsible for specific statistical analysis, data processing and consultative projects.
