Teen-agers slow to enrol

About 300 of the 1000 18 and 19-year-old residents in Sydenham have not enrolled for the by-election on November 2.

Th;; by-election will be the first time 18-year-olds have been allowed to vote in a Parliamentary election. They have until November 1 to enrol as special voters.

The Registrar of Electors (Mr R. A. Aitken) said yesterday that the roll now contained 30,320 names, 678 more than for the 1972 General Election. Enrolment cards are available from the registrar’s office in the Manchester Unity building, and at all post offices. Completed forms have to be in the registrar’s hands by 4 p.m. on November 1.
