Chainsaws stolen
(A'.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. The police confirmed today that about 50 chainsaws had been stolen from the Ernebank, now berthed at Port Taranaki, New Plymouth.
The head of the New Plymouth C. 1.8. (Detective Sen-ior-Sergeant J. F. Brown) i said it was “highly unlikely” that the chainsaws were Taken in New Plymouth. “It appears the theft was < discovered by waterwiders at New Plymouth,” he said. A police inquiry in New Plymouth and Wellington began on Saturday after an ; anonymous caller to the p'Taranaki Herald” said the I chainsaws were missing. He would not give his name, [and said it was up to the to obtain further details. C. 1.8. members boarded the ship on Saturday, and discovered about 50 empty boxes in the hold.
