Imlay'is the first big meat (works in New Zealand to use the gas. The superintendent engineer for the company, Mr R. . M. Simmers, described the e gas as “nice clean fuel.” There was no soot or sulj phur with the gas; no chime ney was required, only ext'haust pipes, and it was fimuch cleaner than oil.
