Camps for children
The Canterbury Education Board will be host to more than 110 children at the first Christmas holiday adventure camp to be held at the , board's outdoor education | centre at Arthur’s Pass ini December and January. The centre, which was bought by the board for more than $24,000, was previously! operated privately. No Gov-1 ernment assistance is given in running the camp. The board will make the centre 'available to children between; Ithe ages of 11 and 13 years in three one-week adventure camps beginning on December 30. Instruction in mountain craft for pupils between the ages of 12 and 15 will be[ held from January 20 to 25. [ I Throughout most of this I I year the centre has been [fully booked by parties ofi children, accompanied by| I parents. The Christmas holiday ' courses will be conducted by I the acting manager of the I centre (Mr R. Brice) assisted by trained instructors.
