Beds for Brych patients

(New Zealand Press Association) "’fe AUCKLAND. August 28.

The board of the Adventist Hospital, al St Heliers, Auckland, tonight gave Dr Milan Brych permission to continue using 1(1 beds at the hospital to treat his cancer patients.

The medical superinten dent of the hospital (Dr R J. Swannell) said that Di Brych already had 111 patients. At the rate new referrals were coming in, this numbei ■would be considerably greater by September 30 — the date' when Dr Brych’s contract with the Aucklanc Hospital Board expires. Dr Brych was admitting and discharging two groups of patients every week, anc the maximum number that could be treated was 2C patients a week. That number had almost been reached already. “We feel that after September 30 we will not be able to accept any new (patients into Dr Brych’s scheme,” Dr Swannell said. “Perhaps the patients will have to be shared with another hospital.” He added: “Our attitude Jo

Dr Brych’s patients on humanitarian grounds is no different from what it was two months ago when we undertook to take these patients. We would help them to receive the treatment they want.”
