New price law next Monday

AUCKLAND. July 7 The Government’s new price control regulations would come into force next Monday, the Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr Freer) said tonight. The Government had hoped to introduce the regulations by July I, but Mr Freer said they had been held up by industrial trouble, final drafting difficulties and printing problems. As a result, it has been decided they will apply from July 15, Mr Freer said.

Copies should be available early this week, giving manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers a chance to study the regulations before they take effect. Mr Freer said that he was still unable to say when details of the maximum retail price scheme would be available. These had been delayed because they involved the same departmental officers who had been finalising the price control regulations.
