Jipcho under investigation
("The Press’’ Special Service) NAIROBI. The Kenyan Amateur Athletics Association is . to meet in emergency session to consider allegations that the Commonwealth (James champion, Ben Jipcho, earned more money as an amateur than he does now as a professional. The meeting has been called after the receipt of a letter from the: International Olympic Committee asking tthat an inquiry be held into the allegations, which were published in the American magazine, “Sports Illustrated,” and in “The Times.” Jipcho has denied making statements about amateur earnings reported in the two publications. Mr Charles Mukora,. chairman of the Kenya A.A.A., said that his association had nothing to hide in the matter. “We have always operated
on the strict rules of the International Amateur Athletics Federations, as laid down by the amateur status committee,” he added. "At no time have we contravened these rules."
Swimming.—Miss K. Ender (East Germany) beat her own world record when she clocked 51.515ec in the 100 metres freestyle at Rostock. The IS-year-old girl showed an Improvement of o.o3sec.
