University teachers of History andor Social Studies (an interest in English would be a further recomme:.dation) who are interested in the development of these subjects in secondary education; and other highly qualified teachers, are invited to apply for this new post which is mainly concerned with the theory and articulation of curricula (2-8-74). LECTURER IN PERFORMING ARTS. The successful applicant will initiate Drama I as a subject for the B.A. degree, and will be responsible to the Head of the Department of Music. This course will include theory and practice of drama and history and development of theatre arts. The lecturer will also be available to contribute to relevant sections of literature courses in the Departments of English, French, German and Classics and to opera and education courses in the Department of Music. Practical experience in the theatre as well as good academic qualifications will be an advantage to applicants (2-8-74). TEMPORARY LECTURER IN SURGERY for 1975. It is likely that more* than one appointment will be available. This position is suited to a Basic or Advanced Surgical Trainee towards the F.R.A.C.S. who seeks experience in investigative work. The appointee will have duties that will include teaching sth and 6th year medical students in a clinical setting. He will be encouraged to engage in a supervised research project, preferably leading to a higher degree. There will be limited opportunities for involvement in the clinical work of the University general surgical clinic (30-9-74). LECTURER IN LAW from January 1, 1975. Applications will be welcomed from any persons with experience and qualifications in any appropriate field (2-8-74). SENIOR LECTURER IN SOCIAL BIOLOGY (HUMANITIES OR SCIENCES). Tne appointment will be in a department appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate who will initially be required to teach a third-year part subject to students interested in both the biological sciences and the humanities (26-7-74), READER IN PAEDIATRICS (NEONATOLOGY) for appointment as soon as possible. Applicants should have substantial experience in NEONATAL AND PERINATAL medicine as well as general paediatrics and holding relevant specialist medical qualifications (26-7-74).

LECTURER (DENTAL) IN HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY from January 1, 1975. The post is specifically for a dental graduate with a higher degree in Physiology. He will be expected to take a major part in the planning and execution of the course in ' Physiology taught to Dental students in their second and third years' (26-7-74). LECTURERS (2) IN HIS TORY from January 1, 1975. Candidates should have teaching and research interests in either (a) Russian History of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries or (b) Mediaeval History (26-7-74). LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY as soon as possible. The appointment will be made within the areas of Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychometrics or Psycholoinguistics (26-7-74). LECTURER IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS from January 1, 1975. Major research activities in the Department are in the fields of Operations Research and Fluid and Solid Mechanics, but specialists in any field of applied mathematics are invited to apply (26-7-74). READER IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES. The University proposes to offer a postgraduate inter-dis-ciplinary course leading to a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies. The reader will be Director of the course in Environmental Studies, and will have the responsibility of co-ordi-nating the teaching and research programmes of students taking the course. Applicants should have academic attainments at a level that would fit them for appointment as a Reader in a relevant field in the sciences, (including the applied sciences) social sciences or the humanities. An interest and some experience in multi-dis-ciplinary studies is desirable (26-7-74). LECTURER IN POLITICS (POLITICAL SOCIOLOGY) from January 1, 1975. Preference will be given to applicants with specialist knowledge of sociological theory (26-7-74) LECTURER IN ANATOMY AND HISTOLOGY. A medical qualification registrable in South Australia is desirable but not essential. The appointment will be made as soon as the person concerned is able to assume duty. The Department of Anatomy and Histology teaches University students of Medicine, Dentistry and Science, and in addition Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy students of the South Australian Institute of Technology. Research fields are neuroendocrinology, human and comparative neurology, cell biology, experimental embryology, and clinical anatomy. Persons with an interst in clinical anatomy (medical graduates) or neuroendoermologv are especially invited to apply (31-7-74). TUTOR IN GEOGRAPHY. A candidate should possess a good Honours degree in Geo-( graphy. The successful appli- | cant will be expected to pro-; ceed to a higher degree (2- ; 8-74).
