Vote to end gold ban
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON.
The House of Representatives has voted to end the 40-year ban on gold ownership by private United States citizens, virtually assuring that Americans will be able to buy and sell goid by the end of the year.
The gold ownership provision was part of a bill authorising SUSISOOm as the United States contribution to the International Development Association of the World Bank. President Nixon is almost certain to sign the oill because he favours the money for I.D.A. — the agency which makes loans at virtually no interest to underdeveloped nations.
