Arahanga trouble
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. There had been considerable action during the last month on solving the continuing dispute over the top deck of the rail ferry Arahanga, said the Minister of' Railways (Mr McGuigan).
Replying to Sir Roy Jack (Nat. Rangitikei), the Minister confirmed that the vessel’s upper deck had been destined for carrying heavy road-transport vehicles, but had not been used for this purpose during the 18 months the ship had been in service.
Mr McGuigan would not say anything further about the dispute, because negotiations were still going on.
