FACES IN THE ARTS
The Australian violinist, Ronald Woodcock, will give a recital with Kenneth Weir (organ) in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament at 8 p.m. on Anzac Day. The concert will be in aid of the cathedral’s organ fund. The cathedral organ will be heard in Bach’s trio sonata in C, and in excerpts from the Ciavierubung, as well as the French compositions, Piece Heroique by Franck and Litanies by Alain. Other items will include the unaccompanied violin Partita in D Minor, with its famous chaconne, by J. S. Bach. . Both performers will present a Handel sonata which, together with other items, will feature the new classical chamber organ lent by Croft and Son, of Auckland. .
Flora Edwards will be the contralto soloist in ■ the Christchurch Harmonic Society’s subscription concert in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday night.
