f .X' 7 Press .4 s.y-Of tat h.m; ) WELLINGTON, April 21. Allegations that Government pressure had been used to secure the appointment of Mr A. Begg, of Stirling. Otago, as deputy chairman of the Meat Board were denied today by the board chairman (Mr C. Hilgendorf) in a supplied statement. Mr Begg is one of two Government-appointed members of the board. “Neither 1 nor the board, officially or unofficially, had ■any request or approach from any Government .source whatsoever regarding the deputy chairmanship of the board." said Mr Hilgendorf. "Furthermore. any i such approach would not have influenced the election."
