Court sequel to chase

A man who was chased by the police from Belmont to ■Silverdale yesterday and was , caught by the use of a I police dog, appeared in the INorth Shore Magistrate’s Court today, charged with unlawfully taking a car. Garth Albert Hobson, aged 18, a bushman, of Kaitaia, pleaded guilty,.and was convicted and remanded in cus-i tody for one week by Mr J. H. Murray, S.M., for sentence. ,

Sergeant A. J. MowattWilson said that 14 more charges would be prepared. He said that Hobson and ;two others were seen interfering with a car in Belmont at 5 a.m. yesterday. Later, -Hobson and another person converted another car and were chased by the police. They ran out of petrol at Silverdale, and took to the (bush.

Two younger defendants appeared in the North Shore Children’s Court today.
