Travelodge moves on

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND.

T. McDell and his crew will lose their world champion 18-footer Travelodge New Zealand.

The sleek hull, with its three masts and rigs plus all its sails, will go to Sydney to be renamed Travelodge New South Wales.

Although the crew will get a new 18-footer, designed by Bruce Farr, her development will put them under pressure in the months ahead.

They may find it difficult to repeat their past success at the trials in December for the next world series, in Brisbane next January. Champions bow out

[ Two former world charn- [ pions sailed their last 18footer race in the final heat of the world championships off Orakei.

The defending champion and five times world title winner B. Holmes (Sydney) is retiring to concentrate on h’s yacht brokerage business, and D. Lidgard, who won the title in Brisbane two years ago, is moving into the new Olympic 470 class as his crew splits up.
