Police protection

<N’.Z Press Assp—Copp right > • LONDON. April 22. ' An Australian accountant, Michael O’Brien, was fined Si 6 today for streaking across the Twickenham Rugby ground during the England-France air disaster charity match last Saturday.

O’Briep, aged 26, of Fulham, London, admitted to the charge of insulting behaviour.

When the Magistrate at Richmond Court asked O’Brien what he had to say about “this piece of nonsense," O’Brien replied: “That’s exactly what it was, a piece of nonsense.” “I’m sorry if I upset any of the crowd but I had had a couple of drinks.” Constable Bruce Perry, who took off his helmet to cover O’Brien as police led him from the field, told the court: “I feared he would be mobbed or that other people would follow suit. I felt embarrassed so I covered him up as best I could.”
