Watties head to retire
i c.\ Z. Press Association I 1 HASTINGS, April 19. Sir James Wattie will step down as chairman of WattieIndustries from the end of July, and will be succeeded as board chairman by Mr D. F. McLeod. Sir James Wattie, aged 72. announced his pending retirement today in his half- ; yearly report to shareholders. Sir James Wattie will be appointed founder president of the company, a relatively! rare position in New Zealand business world but one! which has become widely accepted overseas. He said 1 that this appointment would: require the approval of. jshareholders at a general Imeeting.
