Helping his chances of winning the appointment is the absence of any national! councillors from the nomin-1 ations, which closed yester-: day. Also nominated were the national selector, Mr T. H.| Hardwick, the Wellington secretary, Mr B. J. Wood,] Mi R. Tukiri (Waikato) and. Mi A. Bernard (West Coast)., Contenders for the posi-i tion of coach are Mr G. Menzies (West Coast), another former coach, and, Messrs N. L. Denton and T.! Newton, both of Auckland, j The council will appoint the manager and coach on May 8.
