Clerical canon

The Rev. R. A. Lowe, vicar of Fendalton, has been appointed a clerical canon of the Christchurch Cathedral. The date for his installation is not yet set. Six clerical canons and six lay canons, with the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. M. L. Underhill) comprise the Cathedral Chapter — the governing body of the cathedral. Mr Lowe was ordained in 1952, after theological training at College House, Christ- • church. He served in the parishes of Highfield, Syden ham, St Nicholas (Barrington Street), and Geraldine, before becoming adult adviser to the Diocesan Board of Christian Education in 1963. Since 1966. Mr Lowe has been vicar of Fendalton parish.

Mr Lowe has written several publications, is the author of "Prayers for New Zealanders.” and has just completed an autobiography).
