Rescue by helicopter
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. •' A seriously injured Wellington man was lifted out of the Orongorongo Valley on Wednesday morning by an! R.N.Z.A.F. helicopter. The helicopter landed at the Basin Reserve at 11.30 a.m., ■ and the man was taken to' hospital by ambulance. The helicopter flew from Auckland after an attempt by a civilian helicopter from Nelson failed on Tuesday afternoon. The injured man, Philip ( O’Boyle, of Rongotai, suffered i a punctured lung when his i vehicle rolled over in the ; Orongorongo River. i He was found by three 1 D.S.I.R. field staff from a nearby opossum research station, but was not carried out ! because he was thought to have internal injuries. |1
