Ihe three place-winners in the Bob Charles Cook Strait classic, a pigeon race from Palmerston North to Christchurch. Holding them, from left, are Mr D. Watson, whose bird came second. Mr D. McNeish, who bred and trained the winner for Mr F. Brownie, and Mr K. Cooper, whose bird came third. About 580 pigeons began the race over 426 kilometres, but, because of bad weather over Cook Strait, only 30 birds finished within the time limit.
