Flood relief in hand

Flood relief schemes for both the Spreydon and Shirley areas are already in hand, and will cost about s2m. The Christchurch Drainage Board has already received loan authority approval for the Barrington Street flood relief project, involving the Wilderness Drain, and hopes to call tenders for the first stage of the Dudley Creek (Shirley) diversion in November next year. Planning for this latter project has already started. Present indications are that the Dudley Creek diversion will be finished by July, 1979.

As well as these two major projects, each costing about slm, the board hopes to call tenders in about three months for flood relief work affecting Colombo Street and Manchester Street.
