Art dealer accused

A wealthy American art dealer, Fernand Legros, is recovering in a Paris prison (hospital today, after taking barbiturates on an aircraft ■bringing him to France from (Brazil for questioning about the sale of fake paintings. An investigating Magistrate who has seen Legros will neither confirm nor deny reports that Legros took the barbiturates in a suicide attempt. Legros has spent one year in a Brazilian prison since 'his arrest in Rio de Janeiro lon an international warrant issued several years ago by a Paris judge. Legros, who is 44. is said to be concerned in 10 separate cases involving forged paintings. The main charge against him is that he sold 44 false impressionist and post-impressionist works for SUS2m to a Texas millionaire, Mf-Algur Meadows.
