SALOONS

Wigram should once again provide some topclass saloon racing this year, a major attraction being the prospect of seeing Paul Fahey’s new Cologne Capri V 6 in action against other local men. and the Mustang of the Australian saloon expert. Alan Moffatt. The saloons are always a major draw, and invariably provide highly exciting racing — and the field has never been better than this year. As well as Moffatt, Fahey will face a strong

challenge from the fast and skilled Jim Richards in a Mustang, and drivers such as Rod Coppins (Firebird), Graham Baker (P. D. L. Mustang), “Red” Dawson (Camaro), John Riley (Camaro), Kevin Haig (Mustang) and Rod McElrea (Mustang) will also be well up the front, trying all they know. The open saloon classes will include others of note too: men like Trevor Crowe (Corolla Chevrolet), for example. Production saloons will be out in force for the GTX production car races, the top event being the group one race on Sunday. Then Richards (Falcon), Coppins (Charger) and R. Francevic (Falcon) will meet such experts as Wayne Murdoch (Falcon) and Bryan Innes (Pacer). Some outstanding contests should result.
