The Bluff smelter
The form of “Equation" is W & M - B. The W is Weipa baux’ite. the M is: Manapouri power and thei resulting B is the Bluff’ aluminium smelter. This is i what a colour documentary 'from Pacific Films is about. It traces the discovery and (development of the Weipa bauxite deposit and Comalco's search for power in the whole South Pacific Basin before settling on' Bluff for the site of the [smelter. The music for the film was composed by JennyMcLeod. of Victoria University, and is a blend of elec- . tronic music with rock from the Wellington group Mammal. “Equation", directed by John O’Shea, screens on Monday, at 10.40 p.m.
