It is followed by Otago on 12 points and Marlborough, Nelson and Ashburton, tied on 11. Can terbury looks almost assured of a place in the final Results of yesterday’s plav were:— Canterbury 166/7 (M. Williams 43, D. Burt 25, D. Kerr 24; P Eyles 3/36) beat Ashburton 83 (L. Biand 20; D. Boyle 7/17) _ Marlborough 163/8 (T. Hampton 56, W. Croft 54) beat North Otago 111 (I. Johnston 58; R. Thomas 5/30). Southland 154/7 dec (K. Burns 59 not out, K. Watson 53) drew witli Central Otago 120/4 (M Mclvor 56 not out). North Canterbury 122/1 dec. (P. Blyth 54, P. Winter 44 not out), drew with Otago 57/7 iB Hutton 38: T. Tuuta 4/16,.
