U.S. freight rate rise
f.V.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Charges for freight to the Pacific coast of North America will increase 8 per cent from the sailing of the Philippine Bear on January 20, according to the Auckland office of the Pacific Far East Line.
This includes the 8 per cent increase effective from January 8, and takes into account increases not covered by the previous bunker surcharge. The company says that a further surcharge of about 41 per cent, bringing the total increases in three [months to 12 per cent can :be expected in February if [present bunker price trends continue.
