Another flag, another day

The Grenada flag was unfurled and all set to be hoisted at the flag-raising ceremony for new teams at the Commonwealth Games village yesterday morning, when it was discovered that something — or, more accurately, someone — was missing. An attack of nerves had dissuaded the sole Grenada representative, 21-year-old Miss Bemadine Lewis, from attending. It is how intended to raise the Grenada flag this morning and this time Miss Lewis will not have to face the prospect of standing alone.

She will be flanked by the women’s commandant at the village (Mrs Betty McKenna) and the attache to the Grenada team (Mr L. R. Mills).
