Inspection of shell

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, January 15. Members of the Arthur Allan Thomas Retrial Committe were to examine a 'cartridge case, part of evidence in the police case against Thomas, today or tomorrow.

The chairman of the committee (Mr G. P. Vesey) said today that the Minister of Justice (Dr Finlay) had arranged permission for the committee to see the case.

“The cartridge case has not previously featured in the evidence, and supposedly supports a theory held by Dr Nelson,” said Mr Vesey. (Dr D. F. Nelson is a D.S.I.R. scientist who has been assisting the police with the drafting of new evidence into the case).

Mr Vesey said that the documents supporting Thomas’s move to have his case heard by the Court of Appeal were complete, except for “clearing up” details about the cartridge case.
