Games prize to Russian

N’.Z. Pres.i Associative 1 WELLINGTON. Jan. 15. One of the first prizes in the 1974 Commonwealth Games has already been won — by a Russian. What’s more, Victor Gonqharsky did not even have to leave his home in the Ukraine to win. The event was the amateur short-wave radio competition, which involved competitors contacting four New Zealand stations, including one in Christchurch itself, and a Commonwealth amateur in one of each of the other three world radio zones. Victor radioed five New Zealand stations, and “ham” operators in England, Australia and Bardados.
