Strong rises on active Australian markets
All sectors firmed in active trading on Australian exchanges yesterday, sustaining 1 he gains of the previous week.
B. rose past the $ll mark, for the first time it nearly nine months, to tradi at 1005 c, a 55c jump ove Friday’s closing level. Banks were also stronger The B.N.S.W. rose 4c to 800 c while the C.B.C. and th, C.B.A. added 5c each at 270< and 360 c. C. was another to re cord a substantial gain, clos ing 25c higher at 430 c. In the mining section W.M.C. ro'se 9c to 163 c am M.LM. improved 7c to 240 c C.R.A. was 18c higher a ’33oc while Hamersley showei a marginal improvement a 132 c Pekp-Wallsend stood ou ■with a 30c gain at 630 c am ! Emperor climbed 18c t; . 165 c. Woodside-Burmah gaine, 12c to 191 c, and Timor im proved with a 2c rise to 21c while Weeks Natural Re sources remained steady a 117 c. SYDNEY
