Paraplegic fencing

(N.Z. Press Association)

_ , J DUNEDIN. England continued its dominance of fencing events at the Commonwealth Paraplegic Games last night when C. Thomas, aged 45, retained the title he won four years ago in Edinburgh in the men’s epee. The epee competition instead of being fought in pools as intended, was only a final because of the late withdrawal of two Australians. G. Hooper and R. Jirdan, and D. Winters (Wales). Thomas, a gold medallist at the Tokyo Paraplegic Olympics, conceded only one point in his four wins

The epee final was fought before a crowd of about 200. Easily the most at any of the events yesterday. Results:—

Men’s epee.—Final: Thomas. 4 wins, 1; T. Willett (Eng.i, 3 wins, 2; J. Clark (Scot.), 2 wins, 3. (Earlier results: Back Page.)
