HEAPHY DRYING

(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT. January 14. The Heaphy Track is in good order and drying out, the Forest Service reported today but seepage patches south of McKay Hut are still muddy. The weather in the area yesterday morning was overcast with fog at Gouland Downs.

There were 61 people moving along the track yesterday morning, 34 heading south from Collingwood, and the other 27 tramping up from Karamea.
