TWO FIRES
Firemen from the central fire station attended two fires in Christchurch yesterday afternoon. A fire in a wall in the Sydenham kindergarten, 23 Buchans Road, was quickly put out by firemen from headquarters and Sydenham about 4.50 p.m. Only slight damage was done. A drying room in the Maori girls’ hostel on the corner of Papanui Road and Webb Street also suffered minor damage. Engines from St Albans and Harewood attended.
