Workers to go back

Rubber workers who walked off the job at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Langdons Road, Papanui, on Friday afternoon will return to work at 7.30 this morning. The dispute which prompted the walk-out was over a “domestic issue,” the factory manager (Mr W. V. West) said. He declined to comment further.

The secretary of the Rubber Workers’ Union (Mr L. G. Morel) also declined comment saying the matter was a “minor” one.

The dispute meant that the last shift on Friday, the first on Monday, and some work on Saturday was lost.
