Wellington’s easy win

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Wellington scored its second win of the season when it crushed Bay of Plenty 46-13 in a representative Rugby league match in Wellington on Saturday. Wellington’s performance augured well for its Rothmans clash against Taranaki next Saturday. The winner of that match will go through to the Rothmans northern final, and on its form on Saturday Wellington must be given every chance of making it.

Wellington scored 10 tries to three, E. Carson scoring two, J. Whittaker two, D. Munro two, and P. Edwards, N. Tupaea, M. Edmonds, and K'. Tamati one each. I. Kwoksun kicked eight goals. For Bay of Plenty, G. Manga, C. Burkhart, and L. Edmonds scored tries, and E. Orchard and T. Galvin goals. The penalties favoured Bay of Plenty, 9-5, and the scrums favoured the visitors, 18-11.
