Tennis star in more bother

The Jugoslav tennis star. N. Pilic, subject of a ban which might keep the world’s top players out of Wimbledon this month, ran into more problems on Saturday when he was asked to leave a tennis court—at Wimbledon.

Pilic and the American, A. R. Ashe, had gone to the Wimbledon Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club to practise, but just after they went on court the club secretary asked them to leave.

The club is near to, but not connected with, the AllEngland club where the Wimbledon championships are

' “1 turned them off because this is a private club and they are not members,” he said. ! “I did not care who they 'were. Names do not impress [me at all. It is a club rule [that only members play here.”

Pilic has been banned for one month for not representing his country against New Zealand in Davis Cup play last month, and the ban will not expire in time for him to play at Wimbledon.

John Player (at Nottingham): Miss B. J. King (United States), beat Miss V. Wade (England), 3-6, 6-4; E. Van Dillen (United States) beat F. McMillan (South Africa), 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. Kent (at Beckenham): Miss D. Fromholtz (Australia) beat Miss J. Newberry (United States). 7-5, 0-6, 6-1; A. Metreveli (Russia) beat B. Borg (Sweden), 6-3, 9-8.
