AUST. GOVT MOVE

Some schools to lose aid (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 14. Many of Australia’s private schools will lose all Government aid from the end of this year. Some of the larger schools had expected to receive grants of up to $A 100,000, but the new’ Labour Government decided yesterday that better-off schools would not receive any grants after this year. Schools affected in New South Wales include such well-known institutions as King’s School, Barker College, Newington College, St Ignatius College, Scots College, and the Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Fees are expected to rise next year at these schools, which" already charge SABOO a year or more for day pupils, and at least SAI6OO a year for boarders.
