Parking offences

Sir, —Recently I was fined . for parking my car within 20ft of an intersection. If • other cars are officially ali lowed to be parked some- : where between three and 15 , feet from very busy inter- . sections, why is mine not permitted to stand 16ft from i a corner with practically no 1 traffic? It looks to me as if i the minimum distance should be adhered to right through : the city, be it 20, 10 or five feet. This is a matter of principle. It should not be left to (a traffic officer to decide who should be punished or not.— Yours, etc., H.E.M. May 29, 1973. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “It is policy to remove any parking restriction lines that do not now comply with legal requirements. I do not know of any areas that do not comply : with legal requirements but if the correspondent could inform me of any markings of this nature that do exist I will have the situation remedied.”]
