The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal D. F. St. George (right), presents a greenstone plaque to Air Vice-Marshal Sir Leonard Isitt, the first commanding officer of R.N.Z.A.F. Base, Wigram. He commanded the base from 1923 to 1926. The presentation was made after the dedication of the Harvard Memorial yesterday to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the formation of the New Zealand Permanent Air Force. The plaque displays a gold-plated R.N.Z.A.F. pilot’s brevet and an inscription.
