C.A.R.P. seeks price-freeze
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 2. The Campaign Against Rising Prices wants an immediate price-freeze. In a telegram today to the Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr Freer), C.A.R.P. asks for the freeze to apply until the Consumer Institute is geared to start its “watchdog” role of prices, probably later this month. Unless this is done, says C.A.R.P., prices will rise in anticipation — something it says has been happening since the Government took office.
