MANAROA INJURED

(From Our Own Reporter) DUNEDIN. Manaroa, one of the early favourites, will not start in the Dunedin Festival Cup this evening. He gashed the back of his near foreleg when he stumbled and fell in a paddock on Thursday afternoon. The gash, which went to the bone, missed tendons and ligaments and is not thought to be serious, but it required several stitches. The injury is most, unlikely to affect Manaroa’s trip to Sydney to contest the InterDominion series later in the month. If it clears as quickly as seems likely, it is possible consideration will be given to starting him in the flying mile event next Friday at Addington.
