Decline slows in moderate trading in Australia
The decline was arrested on Australian exchanges yesterday when, in moderate trading, rises and falls were about equal. B.H.P. was unchanged! [throughout the day and' I closed at 1130 c.
The best was recorded by) the property developer, Lend Lease, which has announced a big rise in profit. The price jumped 68c at the beginning of trading and then eased to close at 570 c, up 58c. The Swan Brewery traded [unchanged at 248 c and CarlIton United put. on 8c at 510 c. Established stocks to rejcord small losses included ; Colonial Sugar and the [“Herald.” I The retailer, Myers, moved up 6c at 298 c, and other small gains were recorded by Waltons and Permewans, though Woolworths and Coles both lost a cent or two. , Banks were steady, and the [financier. Custom Credit, I moved up 3c at 218 c. Falls predominated on thej mining and oils boards, though some established I stocks moved ahead. These! included Hamerslev which I iadded 5c at 28 F 'C while C.R.A. ;and Bougainville traded un[changed. Others to record small gains included Western Mining. N.B.H.C. and Kathleen Investments. Woodside-Burmah fell back 3c at 345 c. although the contributing shares nut on thej same amount at 298 c. Santos was another oil stock co fall back shedding 3c at 225 c.
