NO DURBAN BOYCOTT
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DURBAN, February 2. A threatened transport boycott by black workers in townships surrounding the South African industrial port of Durban has failed to materialise. The police said that trains and buses into the city were full as usual yesterday. Strong forces of mobile police were sent into the townships early yesterday after reports that African and Indian workers would boycott public transport in a protest against increased fares.
The boycott threat came against a background of increasing work-stoppages at factories in the Durban area, by workers demanding more pay.
